Basan Acquires the Europe and South East Asia cleanroom consumable and garment manufacturing businesses of Metron Technology

The Basan Group, a leading distributor of cleanroom products and services in Europe, with UK headquarters in Basingstoke, has agreed to acquire the Europe and South East Asia cleanroom consumables and garment manufacturing business of Metron Technology, Inc.

After the recent consolidation of ownership with the Benelux Group, the acquisition of the cleanroom division of Metron Technology is another milestone for us as we continue our strong growth in Europe and the UK.

As of 27th April 2007, Basan will take over the operations of Metron cleanroom consumables in the following countries: Belgium, Germany, France, Ireland, Italy, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Singapore and the UK. In addition, a production plant for cleanroom garments in Malaysia was acquired from Metron Technology.

Positive benefits from the acquisition are expected to begin immediately.

We expect this growth in our organisation to bring significant benefits to employees, customers and suppliers due to increased purchase volumes, an improved cost structure and other synergy potentials.

Strategically, Basan are developing new markets in France, Italy, Malaysia and Singapore with South East Asia in particular offering outstanding growth opportunities in the future.

With this acquisition the number of Basan employees will grow to 114.
