Local businesswoman Monica Pollard has embarked on an exciting new venture. She has bought a Pitman Training franchise and is about to launch her new training centre in Basingstoke.
Monica, who lives in Basingstoke, has worked for Pitman Training for more than six years, running a training centre in Winchester:
"In July last year I decided that the time was right to invest in my own future rather than working for someone else. Because I believe wholeheartedly in the Pitman Training product I knew that I wanted my own franchise,"
"My parents ran their own company so I appreciate the amount of hard work it takes to succeed in business, but being part of the Pitman Training brand is a great place to start."
The Pitman method of training is based on flexible, self-paced learning in a non-competitive environment. Learners are provided with an audio CD or tape and workbook and can choose the study times that suit them best, working around their existing commitments. A tutor is always on hand to answer questions and provide support and encouragement.
"Unlike traditional colleges, the Pitman Training approach to learning means that you can start whenever you're ready and fit your study times around work or family ties,' continues Monica. 'Courses range from basic IT skills to advanced secretarial diplomas and accounting. All our courses are superb quality, reasonably priced and lead to a recognised qualification."
When a learner gets in touch with a Pitman Training centre the first step is a one-to- one chat with a member of the Pitman team.
'Every student is treated as an individual and we take the time to find out about their previous experiences of learning and what they are really looking to achieve. By talking about their interests and getting to know them we can advise on the courses that will best help them achieve their goals."
Monica will be helped in the business by her son Luke.
"I'm very excited about the opening of the Basingstoke Centre, We've created professional yet comfortable surroundings without the intimidating feel of a classroom. We also have areas for learners to relax and private spaces for one to one support and coaching."
The new Basingstoke centre is based in Wolverton Court on London Street. It is ideally situated with lots of parking close by and easy access to public transport. During her first two weeks Monica will be offering learners 20% off all courses.
"We have already had lots of positive interest in the new centre, with enquiries from both businesses and private individuals. Learning a new skill or building on existing knowledge makes a real difference to people and I believe that the Pitman Training method is a great way to learn.
