Computer games retailer Game Group, with headquarters in Daneshill, has revised its profits target after a 'simply stunning' Christmas.

The Basingstoke-based firm said strong demand for the Nintendo DS and the new motion sensitive Nintendo Wii games machines sent like-for-like sales soaring 15.6% in the six weeks to January 6.

Game now expects the Group profit before tax for the year to 31 January 2007 to be ahead of market consensus and in the range of £28m to £30m.

Game chairman Peter Lewis said:

"Our Christmas sales performance was excellent particularly given the very strong comparatives for the previous year when the Microsoft Xbox 360 launched."
