The Academy raising money
for Children in Need in
Basingstoke, Hampshire.
The Academy in Worting Road, Basingstoke started its week-long fundraising activities for Children In Need on Saturday with an Abba tribute show live on stage.
It then continued on Sunday morning with two members of staff, Sinead Galway and Mary Cullen, starting a week's sponsored sleepover at the family entertainment centre. They are working in the pyjamas all week and will be sleeping on-site.
In addition, Academy pool club member, Aaron Sheridan has challenged bar supervisor Rob Hall to a marathon 499 frames of pool. This will last until mid-week and they are inviting customers to sponsor them to raise money for Pudsey Bear.
During the week, the 24/7 snooker and pool hall, sports bar, Chinese restaurant and live music venue will host three attempts to set new Guinness World Records. These are for dee-jaying, drumming and pool. The venue is open around the clock and invites local people over the age of 18 to come in and support the charity fundraisers.
On Saturday 18th November, the world record hopefuls invite everyone in to see them set their new world records at 8pm. After that, there is karaoke competition with £100 cash prizes up for grabs. Admission is £2 and entry to the competition is £1 with all monies going into Pudsey's bucket.
