Five sales consultants and five head-office based Winterthur employees were awarded CF9 Pension Simplification certificates, the successful result of self study and a final exam in July 2006. The certificate is recognised in the financial services industry as a benchmark qualification for competence and knowledge of the new pension rules that came into force on 6 April 2006 , otherwise known as A-Day.
The latest achievement brings the total number of Winterthur staff holding the certificate to 93, which includes all 36 members of the company's national sales force.
Also this summer, four members of staff have passed the CF2 Investment and Risk module of the new Certificate in Financial Planning qualification and seven senior managers gained merits or distinctions in a two-year business management diploma from Reading University. As an accredited Investors in People Company, Winterthur finances the relevant study and examination needs of all its employees.
Jim Hare, HR director at Winterthur Life UK, commented on the latest exam results: "I would like to congratulate all the staff on their achievements. Since the arrival of A-Day, this year has been one of the busiest the industry has seen, in terms of new business and overcoming the challenges of new legislation.
The high level of competence of our staff has ensured Winterthur continues to deliver both innovative and approved financial products, attracting strong growth for the UK business as highlighted by the company's half-year results released this month."
